Summer & Epilepsy

Published on 6 May 2024 at 11:05

I hope everyone stays safe during the summer. Elements such as heat, warmer weather, and fireworks may affect those who have epilepsy. It is important to create options for staying safe during the hottest days of the summer.

  • Stay hydrated
  • Some antiseizure medications may cause a person to sweat less. Keep out of direct sunlight and stay cool.
  • Sunlight may trigger some people with epilepsy. Offer a secure place that stays cool.
  • If you have questions, ask the person with epilepsy what they like to do.

Stay cool and have a seizure-free summer!
