Cats and Music: my kitties in musicology

Eliot Tucker was quite a cat. Aside from helping me write blog posts and podcasts, he enjoyed music. Every evening, he needed a record played for him until I went to sleep. However, there is a catch: he must choose what we heard at night. He nuzzled his face against the record sleeve and let me know his listening pleasure. As to music, ET loved a variety of music; his tastes varied from classical to pop, blues, and rock, to soul music. He'd lay on the floor, close his eyes, and smile while the music played. One of his favorite artists was The Fifth Dimension. Once, he rubbed his head so hard against the record cover he made it fall out! Ever since kittenhood, ET enamored himself with records. He lovedthe pleasure of listening to his favorite tunes. Other favorites included Kelly Clarkson, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, the Mamas and the Papas, Peter, Paul, and Mary, the Dave Clark Five, and Los Lobos.

Ebbie, his sister, has other musical aspirations. She can't sit still for slow ballads. Her genre is disco!! She loves dancing to fast, jazzy music! If anyone plays a dance tune, she comes to the living room for music time. Ebbie loves dancing to Donna Summer, K-pop, and anyone who does fast music.

My first cat, Crystal, had an interest in one artist: Michael Crawford. My sister had to play his greatest hits tape repeatedly. Her favorite soundtrack was The Phantom of the Opera featuring Crawford and Sarah Brightman. If you played anyone else portraying the Opera Ghost, she'd hiss at the player! As soon as you put on Michael Crawford singing, she purred and nuzzled the player lovingly. She loved him. If we could, we would have bought her a poster or Crawford picture.

Ginger, my second cat, had her taste for rock n roll. Her favorite artist was Bruce Springsteen. She loved the boss. I guess because it reminded her of my father. She liked the album Born in the USA. She enjoyed listening to it often. Aside from The Boss, she liked The Beatles.

All of my cats are unique. Their musical tastes vary. When I adopt my next kitty, it will be interesting to see their taste in music.
