Best Tools to Soothe You When Chronic Illness Gets You Down

Ever find yourself out of spoons? The month of January is dragging on? Well, I put up my top ten list of favorite tools to soothe me during my chronic illness

  1. Tea. I love a good cuppa tea. Chamomile is my favorite!
  2. A weighted blanket.  Nothing feels so good as a weighted blanket.
  3. Fuzzy socks. The texture of bright-colored socks makes me smile.
  4. A fuzzy friend. Kitties or dogs are wonderful at comfort. The feel of a purring cat brings me joy.
  5. Good programs. I enjoy watching Julia Child create dishes I can only imagine.  It reminds me of baking with my Grammy P.
  6. Books. I am a bookworm! I love exploring new worlds and trying different genres. Sometimes, listening to an audiobook helps me unwind.
  7. A flexible heating pad. Nothing feels better than a heating pad. I use my bean-filled heating pad for my eyes and other achy muscles.
  8. Music.  I vary in genres. However, when I am having an extra rough night or day, I usually listen to classical music. Mozart, Bach, and Chopin are the most comforting!
  9. Writing cards and sending them. I love sending cards! I make them, too. It is a fun way to connect with people.
  10. Journalling. Okay, I know it's another form of writing. I journal everything! It is the only way I can recall events or certain occasions. I use it to unpack my thoughts and emotions onto a page.

How about you? How do you find comfort during your chronic illness? Share your thoughts below!
